Welcome to Reno Tahoe Hypnosis

What Is Hypnotherapy?

Welcome to Reno Tahoe Hypnosis!  I suspect you are here because you have an interest in improving your life in some respect.  My mission is to help you discover just how powerful hypnosis can be in achieving the change you desire, so checking out Reno Tahoe Hypnosis is a great start.  There are patterns we develop through our lives that represent blocks to reaching our goals or living a healthy life.  We are conscious of some of these patterns, and unconscious of others.

In some situations we can consciously recognize a pattern that does not benefit our life, but have no idea why we continue the behavior or way of thinking.  This applies to so many situations involving over-eating, fears, self-sabotaging behaviors and more.  That is why the donut gets eaten, the tiny spider fills you with fear and you procrastinate.

You can think one way with the conscious mind, but something else drives you to take action that sabotages your goals.  What is that something else?  It is the subconscious, or feeling mind, where your memories, emotions and beliefs are stored.  The subconscious will always override the conscious mind and resist change - until the conscious and subconscious are aligned. That’s where hypnosis comes in.

What Is Hypnosis?

It’s fairly simple to describe, although complex in results.  Hypnosis is a natural state that we experience frequently in our daily lives.  Have you ever daydreamed and become so focused on a mental scene that you were unaware of what was going on around you?  Or have you driven from work to home and suddenly arrive at your destination without any conscious awareness of the last several minutes of the drive?  An athlete in the "zone" is also in a state of hypnosis.  Hypnosis is simply a naturally occurring heightened state of awareness and focused concentration that opens the channel from the conscious mind to the subconscious mind and intuitive knowledge.

Our conscious mind takes in input from the five senses and applies analysis and reasoning to make choices.  However as much as you can know what is a positive choice, often a feeling drives you to make a less than positive choice.  Hypnosis opens the door to the subconscious mind or the “feeling” mind to understand what beliefs and perceptions are stored there that drive the actions you take.  In the hypnotic state you have a heightened responsiveness to suggestion, direction and learning.  All behavior is initiated at the subconscious level, so that is also the level of change.

What Hypnosis Is Not

The hypnotic state is an altered state of physical, mental and emotional relaxation that reflects a flow of energy, however it is not always a state of being physically relaxed per se as evidenced by an active athlete in the “zone.”  The most important aspect to note is that the mind is relaxed.

Hypnosis is not a sleep or an ‘unconscious’ state.  It is actually a state where your senses are hyper-acute, so you are always aware of everything that’s happening.

Hypnosis is not mind control.  You will not do anything in hypnosis that is outside your moral code or say anything you do not choose to say.

How Can Using Hypnosis Help?

Hypnosis has many supportive applications for physical or health issues, as a self-awareness tool, to change negative patterns and behaviors, to grow spiritually and more.

In the case of health issues, hypnosis activates the body’s natural systems to support balanced health and wellness.  There are many tools to use the mind to activate a desired physical response and support healing.  Meridian tapping is also taught for personal work.

Most people associate hypnosis with physical relaxation, which is an element of a traditional style called Direct Suggestion Hypnosis.  Physical relaxation combined with mental relaxation is used with suggestion therapy.  This is where specific language is used to communicate to your subconscious as well as your conscious mind.   For deeper issues where the conscious mind recognizes a need for change (as in a habit or repeated behavior that is detrimental to your life) but still resists change, it is necessary to connect with the subconscious mind to uncover the beliefs affecting what is happening physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.  For this, Age Regression Hypnosis is used to uncover and explore events and perceptions that formed beliefs, release the associated feelings and transform the perceptions to create a new reality.   This application of hypnosis to connect your mind and body frees your unique resources to focus on your important goals. This focus opens the door to understanding, healing, and effecting behavior changes to achieve the life you envision.

I applaud your decision to explore hypnosis and hypnotherapy. Some of the more common applications include:

  •      Stress Reduction

Hypnotherapy Success Stories

I'm a 61 year old Polio survivor who has lived with pain my entire life. I was being seen by a pain management doctor because my daily pain level had reached 5-6 on a 1-10 pain scale. I often would awake at night with a pain level of 7 or 8 out of 10. I did not want to increase any dosage of pain medications I take, in fact, I wanted to reduce them. I went to Diane with the hopes that I could reduce my pain even if it was just a little, and this was my results: My daily pain level is averaging now between 1-2 on that 1-10 scale. I even have times with no pain at all. I still awake at night with pain spiking to 7 or 8 however using the techniques Diane taught me I can now lower that pain to the point that I can fall back to sleep and not have to take any pain medications. Not only is my pain now manageable, but I can now relax my entire body giving my mind a much needed rest. My sessions with Diane were very educational, comforting and gave me peace that I haven't felt in years. I felt she listened, cared and showed compassion that I didn't often see or feel with other doctors or therapists. Taking a chance on Hypnotherapy to feel some relief from pain was a no-brainer for me and it worked. I highly recommend Diane Mitchell for her ability in her field and her concern for her patients.

I really appreciate the valuable information I learned from you in just two visits of hypnotherapy.  You have opened my eyes to other ways I can relax and de-stress, not to mention relieve pain.

I originally went to see Diane Mitchell because I was having trouble passing a very important test. My mind did not want to absorb the material and I was down to the deadline for passing. Obviously, I was distraught and very nervous.
When I went for my first appointment, I immediately trusted Diane and her ability to help me pass the test. She was very helpful in explaining how the conscious works with the subconscious and how, when they work together, I could pull the information I needed to pass this test.
And sure enough, I did pass the test with flying colors!

What I didn’t expect, however, was how much this series of therapy sessions would help in my everyday life. I learned so many skills: relaxation, focusing and being in charge of my own well being. These are lessons that I will carry with me forever.

I would recommend Diane without hesitation. What she has taught me and how she has helped me is invaluable.

Diane is a person of great character and honesty but on the fun side, I really think that part of the reason I am finally living my dream in a beautiful place is because of her hypnosis suggestions.  I also got my first choice job and it has lots of recreation and education benefits.  My concentration, memory and energy are better than they
have been in years.  I awake each day with a smile, knowing I have a life on purpose and just happy to be breathing the air.  Thank you,  Diane!
